Dear Gent,

With reference to our conversation on the

telephone on Monday, you may care to note for record

purposes that I gave to H. K. Jones, by telephone, the

full message from his representative, Summers, which

was telegraphed in telegram No.278 from the Governor

of Hong Kong.

I also told H.K. Jones that the Governor in

Hong Kong had received instructions to afford Summers

facilities to transport the aeroplanes into Chinese

territory. His immediate reply was that he would

tell the Chinese authorities that their aeroplanes

in

were going to Hong Kong and that they should apply to

the Governor of Hong Kong for them. He went on to

ask whether the decision in regard to the assembly of

G.E.J. Gent Esq.,D.S.O.,0.B.E.,M.C.
